Mauricio Pochettino’s side desperately needed the international break with things constantly going against them in the Premier League. But, things aren’t about to get any easier as Spurs will travel to Anfield to face Liverpool in their first game back after the break.
Spurs have been a completely different side in the Champions League as they breezed past Borussia Dortmund in the last round, with defending Premier League champions Manchester City now standing in their way.
Although, Spurs may have identified an area of weakness in their current squad, as according The Sun, Tottenham Hotspur are ready to offload the likes of Kieran Trippier and Serge Aurier.
And, it appears as if the North London club already have one player on their radar ahead of the summer as they’re reportedly (as per The Sun) extremely interested in signing Crystal Palace’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
The Englishman has set the Premier League alight this season with his pace and dribbling ability down the right-hand side as he constantly poses a threat to the opposition. And, his end product is starting to develop as well as he’s produced three assists in all competitions, so he could offer a different dynamic in the final third for Spurs.
Many fans will agree that one thing that Spurs’ current batch of players lack is pace, which makes Wan-Bissaka an even more attractive player. But, it appears as if Daniel Levy will need to splash the cash if he is to bring the defender to Spurs’ new stadium, as The Sun reported last month that his price tag is set at £40 million.
But, he currently only earns £15k-a-week at Crystal Palace, according to Spotrac, so at least the wages side of the potential deal may not be too hefty if it comes round to it.
Pochettino has a track record of developing young players into European stars having aided Dele Alli and Harry Kane’s development, as well as others. So, Spurs fans would easily forget about the heavily-criticised Trippier if Pochettino worked his magic once again on Wan-Bissaka, who is valued at £22.5 million (by Transfermarkt).
