Loads of Sunderland fans have been reacting to some comments from club director Charlie Methven, as he hit out at fans who watch illegal streams of the Black Cats.
While reports this summer suggested there would be a crackdown on illegal streams this season, they are still extremely prevalent.
Fans of lower-league teams in particular often feel they have no choice but to stream games due to the lack of television coverage, but Sunderland’s director has hit out at fans that watch streams instead of going to the match.
“If you’re a fanatic of your football club and you decide, actually what you’re going to do is you’re going to spend your money on a few pints of lager and watch an illegal stream of the match rather than contributing that money to trying to help your club to be the best it probably can, you’re not a fan, you’re a parasite,” Methven said.
Sunderland have tried their best to revitalise the club and fan base this summer, and it’s fair to say it’s working.

The Stadium of Light has been nearly full for the last couple of League One matches, and building this support and trust from fans is a huge part of what the new owners are trying to do.
Fans are split on Methven’s comments though, as it does seem harsh to lash out at people who may not be able to get to the games.
While some fans are in complete agreement with the comments, others are bashing the new director for his carelessness, and either way you can find some of the best Twitter reactions down below…
